The situation began to worsen shortly after turning 40 when I began to float between 240 and 250 pounds. The simplest tasks and activities would tire me out and increased the likelihood of back and/or knee pain. As a result, depression took hold and I became very anti-social which just worsened the problem. In August 2007, I reached 254 pounds and it scared me. I finally gathered enough motivation to take it seriously and began modifying my lifestyle with simple changes to diet and I began walking and jogging at night. I established multiple level goals. The interim goal was to reach 200 pounds with the eventual goal of approaching my ideal weight of 170 pounds. I am still pursuing my final goal but I have lost 60 pounds as of September 2008.
